I'm not a native speaker of English yet found this to be the best reference for a simplified understanding of the Qur'an. Arabic is my mother tongue! If you want to read the Qur'an in English,this is the one. Dr. Safi is a respected Scholar in Islamic Studies and a key figure in interfaith discussions and a bridge builder of the Abrahamic religions. He believes in the principles “Loving God, and loving neighbor†that are found over and over again in the sacred texts of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. All his works are admirable! I've just bought his newly released book - The Qur'an with reference to the Bible and am sure this will take me to new depths. Thank you Dr. Safi.
This translation is clear to understand, yet poetic at the same time. It is very well written. This is my first experience reading the Qur'an and it has been quite positive. Some of my friends described getting bogged down in, or not understanding other English translations. This has never been the case with this translation by Dr. Kaskas. I would highly recommend this translation.

As a Christian, I had never considered turning the pages of the Qur'an and thought most likely a sin if God caught me even opening. I am grateful to other Christian and Jewish friends who directed me to Safi Kaskas, an American Muslim scholar with a heart for peace and bridge building between all faiths. Safi's translation of the Qur'an begins with an introduction explaining the history and beginnings of Islam. I found this especially fascinating, informative and so much of this history, I did not know before. I am reading this translation a little bit every day just as I do my daily Bible reading. I pray and ask God to give me a love and understanding for my Muslim brothers and sisters. If this is your desire as well, Safi's easy to read translation is where to start. Thank you Safi for this extensive labor of love.
Salam. I like the translation for accuracy and simplicity. It reflects the Arabic meaning and the soul of the texts of the holy Quran.
I'm impressed with his deep understanding of classical Arabic and doubly impressed with his ability to fit those terms with their 21st Century meanings.
