I absolutely LOVE this book! I have previously purchased hand lettering 101 and enjoy both, but this version has a lot more to offer! Sarah provides a few different alphabet styles, as well as practice pages and project ideas! I recommend this book to anyone who’s looking to learn lettering!
If there were 10 stars I would rate it that. I can not get over how much I love this book. For a while, I’ve taken such an interest in calligraphy... all of which stemmed from my grandpa. He used to write me letters with his calligraphy and I loved it and I always wanted to write like that too. I had forgotten about it for a while until a friend of mine shared her lettering on an Instagram story and I was in awe! I had to learn how she did it! I asked for 101 for Christmas and within a week I was finished with the whole book. I immediately asked for 201 for my birthday. And yes, you guessed it, within a week that one was done too. It’s so therapeutic and fun and I absolutely love it. It’s not like traditional calligraphy but rather calligraphy 2.0 lol it’s got an extra flair to it that’s so fun. The pages and lines are just the right size for you to practice, and the projects are so fun. I love how the author, Sarah, encourages you to take risks with the letters and make it your own. Ever since, I’ve lettered on everything and practice at least 5 times a week!!! And all my school books and notebooks never looked better! Now I can’t wait to get my hands on an iPad and pencil so I can do the iPad lettering practice! This book is everything and will seriously step up your handwriting/cursive game to a whole new level. This is by far my new favorite hobby. I can’t wait to letter my wedding invitations some day!!! Honestly, I don’t know if I could speak more highly of this book.
I had previously bought the 101 book, and I enjoyed the style (even though it felt a little too "basic" for my skill level, it was nice to get back to the basics!) So I thought maybe this would just include a different style. No, it features SO MANY more styles that I absolutely LOVE playing around with my writing. It's a beautifully constructed book, and I continue to use this daily to practice different looks. Such an awesome purchase!
Great book! Very informative in teaching you how to letter and what kinds of pens to use. There is practice pages but I like to use blank sheets that I have laying around as well. My only complaint is some of the letters formats aren't in a specific order where you learn all of the lower case of a certain format and then the upper case in the same format (different name) is pages and pages away. I like to learn the upper and lower right after each other but was following the order of the book when I realized it was listed like this. Not a big deal but something I noticed.
I've been following chalkfulloflove on IG for a while and wanted to learn how to do hand lettering. I was originally going to get her 101 book, but the 201 has the same lettering practices as the 101 book plus more. I ended up returning this because I found it for cheaper at my local craft store.
I bought this book strictly on the reviews it received. While it is a beautiful book and well constructed, I am very disappointed with it. If I hadn't started writing in it, I would have sent it back. It really is nothing more than a work book with many different fonts for creative lettering. No need for a whole book of repeated copying of alphabets that are only slightly different. It would be just as easy (and a lot cheaper) to buy a lettering pad and practice that way on your own.
ChalkFullOfLove makes the most amazing products & this book is no exception. I own 101 and 201. They both do absolutely incredible job of breaking down different lettering fonts. LOVE IT!
THIS BOOK IS FANTASTIC. I ordered the first book and it awesome! This second exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to begin writing!! Thank you Sarah for sharing your beautiful talent with the world!!
