My husband has Aphasia after he suffered a stroke in August. He is on Medicaid. Under their requirements they stop his therapies for several weeks before evaluating him again. During this time nothing is happening to help him. I am not a trained therapist, I am his wife. I cannot just see him doing this time span without helping the best I can. I am unable to assist in his PT/OT but I can help with his speech. I found this book very helpful in helping him in the interim. It is very easy to understand and I would recommend it to anyone who is trying to help someone, even during speech therapy with a real therapist. Very helpful!
As a speech language pathologist I occasionally work with people with receptive aphasia otherwise known as fluent aphasia or Wernicke‘s aphasia. This is a great resource to work on skills for people with those aphasias.
Excellent book!! The Speech Therapists at the rehab where my mom is (with aphasia from a seizure) were so impressed with this book. Mom has been working with it, and also an app that we were referred to. I would suggest this book to anyone with aphasia who is also doing speech therapy or as a way to keep working between sessions.
